"Cardinals Unveil New Single and Upcoming Tour"

Cork’s rising stars, Cardinals, have unveiled their latest single, “The Burning of Cork,” a powerful and politically charged track that takes a deep dive into history. The song, which reflects the events of December 1920 when Cork City faced devastation inflicted by the British Army’s Black and Tan forces, marks a significant moment in the band’s upcoming debut album, “Masquerade,” set to be released on February 13th, 2026, through So Young Records.

“The Burning of Cork” is described as the heaviest and most menacing track on the album, showcasing Cardinals’ ability to blend historical narrative with emotive music. Accompanied by a striking music video directed by Greg Purcell, the single serves as a testament to the band’s artistic vision and grounding in the rich tapestry of Irish history and culture.

The album “Masquerade” promises to be a diverse collection, featuring ten tracks that span a spectrum of emotions and sounds. Recorded over the summer at RAK Studios in London, the album captures both grand and intimate moments, incorporating elements of romance and darker themes. With emotionally expansive songs, such as “Anhedonia” and “Barbed Wire,” the band is set to take listeners on a journey through contrasts that echo their love for vinyl’s A-side and B-side dynamics.

With a lineup that includes brothers Euan and Finn Manning, their cousin Darragh, and friends Oskar Gudinovic and Aaron Hurley, Cardinals have quickly established a reputation in the Irish independent rock scene. Their collective chemistry translates into a captivating stage presence and a unique sound that has been praised by leading music publications. Rolling Stone UK described them as the next great guitar band from Ireland, highlighting their potential to make a significant impact.

Currently, Cardinals are on tour with the acclaimed band NewDad, playing a series of shows across the UK and Ireland. Recent performances include a standout appearance at Fontaines D.C.’s all-day festival in Finsbury Park and two support gigs for Wunderhorse in Dublin. The band is also preparing for a headline tour across mainland Europe in late November, reflecting their rapid rise and expanding fanbase.

“Masquerade,” which features exclusive editions, including a Rough Trade Galaxy vinyl, is now available for pre-order. This upcoming album follows the band’s well-received self-titled debut EP and continues to build on their momentum, as songs have already made appearances in popular media, including Netflix’s “House of Guinness” and the video game series “Skate.”

Fans can listen to “The Burning of Cork” and immerse themselves in Cardinals’ evocative soundscape. With a blend of indie rock influences and a commitment to authentic storytelling, Cardinals are poised to make waves in the music industry in 2026 and beyond.

Stay tuned for more updates from Cardinals as they continue their artistic journey and prepare for the release of “Masquerade.”
