"Celebrate Jason Molina: New Tribute Album Release"
Run For Cover Records is set to release “I Will Swim to You: A Tribute to Jason Molina” on September 5th, a heartfelt compilation honoring one of the most influential songwriters of our time. This album features a collection of twelve poignant covers performed by notable indie artists, including MJ Lenderman, Horse Jumper of Love, Hand Habits, Sun June, and many others, each interpreting Molina’s powerful songs in their unique styles.
To celebrate the announcement, two tracks from the upcoming album are now available for streaming. MJ Lenderman’s rendition of “Just Be Simple,” a classic from Molina’s Magnolia Electric Co., captures the melancholic essence of the original with a contemporary twist. Sun June’s version of “Leave The City” transforms the song into a dreamy indie-pop ballad, showcasing the versatility of Molina’s songwriting.
Fans can now pre-order the album, which also includes a limited edition split 7” featuring an unreleased Jason Molina demo alongside MJ Lenderman’s cover of “Just Be Simple.” A portion of the album’s proceeds—10%—will benefit MusiCares®, a nonprofit organization that provided crucial support to Molina during difficult times.
