"Cherry i Unveils Debut Single and EP Release"
London-based art-rock quartet Cherry i is making waves with the release of their new single “Arctic Sun,” which premiered today. This compelling track marks a pivotal moment for the band as they announce their eagerly awaited debut EP titled “Yes, but I could never tell that lie.” Produced by the acclaimed Ali Chant, known for his work with PJ Harvey and Soccer Mommy, the EP is set to drop on July 17th, 2025.
Cherry i’s formation is a story of friendship and resilience. The band originated in 2025 when two friends fleeing conflict in Ukraine came together, eventually expanding to include their bassist Slava and drummer Hugh. Despite their brief history, Cherry i has already garnered over 100,000 streams and earned acclaim for their inventive sound within London’s vibrant DIY music scene. Their unique blend of tense vocals and dark instrumentation is exemplified in “Arctic Sun,” which the lead singer Nikol Kozin describes as an exploration of the quest for fulfillment in relationships.
Listeners can expect more than just “Arctic Sun” from the EP. Previous singles like “The Arsonist” delve into themes of war and displacement while “Mistake,” released in late 2025, reflects on the trials of being an emerging band. Kozin shares the humorous backstory of how he encouraged bandmate Nastya to relocate temporarily, leading to the band’s initiation in a time of limited distractions.
The upcoming EP promises to showcase the band’s growth and songwriting depth, capturing the essence of their early live performances. With plans for additional live shows and more new music on the horizon, Cherry i is set to redefine their space in the competitive UK music landscape.
Fans can catch them live on June 5th at The Bell in Bath, July 11th at Windmill Brixton in London, and July 23rd at Daltons in Brighton.
Be sure to pre-save “Yes, but I could never tell that lie” and join Cherry i on their journey as they continue to explore the complexities of love, artistry, and resilience. This is a band that music lovers will want to keep an eye on as they carve out their niche in the industry.
