Cusk Unleashes Debut EP: Celebrate with Live Show!

London-based alt-rock duo Cusk has officially released their much-anticipated debut EP, simply titled “Cusk,” through The Bird Records. Recognized for their captivating sound and emotive songwriting, Cusk features Esmé Creed-Miles and Evie Hilyer-Ziegler, who effortlessly blend rawness with intricate melodies. The EP is now available in both digital format and limited-edition vinyl.

Since their emergence on the London music scene, Cusk has garnered acclaim for their distinctive sound that draws comparisons to a range of influential artists. Their debut single, “Blu tac piano,” has been noted for its intensity and atmospheric depth, often likened to the works of Courtney Love and Fleetwood Mac. Following this, the haunting follow-up “Dooms banjo” reinforced their reputation for producing heavy, emotive music that resonates deeply with listeners.

The “Cusk” EP includes not only their standout single “Blu tac piano” but also features collaborative work such as “Did it make you cry,” featuring jennylee from Warpaint. Rounding out the EP are the compelling tracks “Beauty Queen” and “Don’t change I love you,” displaying the duo’s range and versatility. Critics praise this collection for its ability to fuse disparate musical ideas while maintaining a cohesive sound, making this a release worth exploring.

To celebrate the launch of their EP, Cusk will be headlining a show at The Shacklewell Arms in East London on August 27th. This performance is a significant milestone for the band, marking their first headline gig with a full-band setup. Tickets for the event are now on sale, making it a perfect opportunity for fans and newcomers alike to experience Cusk’s evocative live performance.

Esmé and Evie’s creative journey began at an improvisation night at The Shacklewell Arms, where they formed a strong bond through their shared passion for music. Since their early days performing at small venues, they’ve quickly evolved as a prominent presence in the London music landscape, playing alongside notable acts such as DIIV and Tiberius B.

Cusk’s music process is characterized by spontaneity and collaboration, with initial song ideas often springing from voice notes or poetic snippets. Their contrasting playing styles create a rich musical tapestry, showcasing an engaging interplay between Esmé’s slackened rhythm guitar and Evie’s melodic strings.

As they continue to make waves on the music scene, this debut EP signifies just the beginning for Cusk. With their raw emotional resonance and innovative sound, they are poised to capture the hearts of audiences both in the UK and beyond.
