Annelise Bittenbender

London-based cousins, Mike Sharp and Joel Roberts, are more commonly known together as electronic rock two piece Ozteki. The pair released their debut album, “Binary Childhood”, earlier this year to much acclaim. I shared a quick interview over email with the pair who were on entertaining form! Enjoy below!

How did you become Otzeki?

A jaguar sighed and coughed up a moth then the sky rained confetti to which a cow meowed.

Did you have any self-awakenings while creating the Binary Childhood album?

Yes, many selves were awakened.

Which song means the most to you on the album and why?

Already Dead because it’s remained as relevant to us now as when it was first written.

What does the album cover represent for you?

Irony.

Which music video was your favourite to shoot?

Angry Fix.

What’s the process you go through while writing a song?

Chaos, doubt, authority, ecstasy, guilt, delusion, pleasure, reason, insight, responsibility, peace and respect.

Is there any symbolism behind the infinity sign and the two circles that you draw?

Yes.

What would you like listeners to obtain from your album?

Dissatisfaction.

Finally, if you could play anywhere in the entire world – no limits – where would you go?

The Himalayas.
