‘PALACE’ MAKE WAVES- AT THE MASH HOUSE
It felt electric. As it always seems to be in the Mash House, Edinburgh. But something was different, more intimate. There was a genuine buzz. Not just for a fun gig, not just for a good time. These were true fans, that were there to experience the music they loved, to hear Palace.
London-born ‘Hot Dreams’ welcomed the crowd with an upbeat but heartfelt performance, making quite the impression. The quartet did exactly their job in livening up the space and the people, fuelling them for the main event. We will definitely be seeing more from this stride-hitting band.
For such a small capacity, the roar of the crowd when Palace entered the stage was spellbinding. Enough to blow your head off. They immediately broke into song, hard-hitting instrumentals and liquid gold vocals warming the air. Each track fell perfectly into the next, every mouth in the room following along. In fact, the crowd sang quite a proportion of a few songs. It was so plain to see how much these people were consumed by the music and how hard they felt it.
Audience members yelled out for their favourite track to be played in ever gap of silence. The anticipation for the music to commence again had everyone on their toes.
Palace perfectly captured the sound of their album, if not did it better justice through their live performance. Raw emotion swelled the room. It truly was a compelling gig and had me hooked.
