REVIEW: Stoned Immaculate | The Bungalow, 18/5/19

Words by Scott Simpson:

Saturday the 18th of May was like any other night, except for the fans of our very own ‘ The Stoned Immaculate’, an up-and-coming, rock’n’rollin, in-your-face punk band. They’ve sprouting rapidly from the streets of Scotland’s second city, Glasgow!

The Bungalow in Paisley hosted an array of pretty class bands, but my god, The Stoned Immaculate were banging. It was my third time seeing these guys; and it only gets fucking better.

The cyclical nature of an eerie sounding and almost psychedelic guitar riff is vital and extremely present, thanks to lead guitarist Callum Hughes’ work on the band’s first release “Charlie Brown”. This track blessed our ears back at the end of February. The extremely funky tones are delivered by Harrison Todd, the bass guitarist. Percussionist, Scott Lennon thrashed the kit like bolts of lightning, and allowed the beat to travel through the venue like crashes of thunder. The charismatic and bardic tales Louis Jamieson screams into the microphone paints a punk as fuck picture to those who see them play.

Louis swung the microphone about like nun chucks while cutting Kung Fu-like shapes as dance moves. The sound technician shouts “Break yer own mic!” in between the end of the first song and the start of the second. Without fail, Jamieson shrugged off the comment and continued to dance around stage like there was no tomorrow.

After the madness, I met the band outside. I spoke with the lead singer who I’ve met and discussed sick music with on a few fried nights. When I asked what they were up to in days to come; Louis explained that ‘Don’t Run, Yer Caught (Ya Dick)’ and ‘Lies’ will appear on a double A-side. Two new tracks are approaching you damn punks for the start of June.

Tune in to their two banging tracks on all streaming services; ‘Charlie Brown’ and ‘Hawaii’. Go see them next time you’re wanting a belter of a night and some fucking chaos. Spread the love.
