Pile Up Festival Returns!

Pile Up Festival Returns!

PILE UP FESTIVAL returns on the weekend of 12 / 13 / 14 April 2019 with a new home!

The alternative three-day indoor festival will return with a fresh look after dropping the Pop Punk tagline and will be moving to a much larger home at SHEFFIELD STUDENTS UNION with four stages on each day: Main Stage; Foundry Stage; Stylus Stage; and Acoustic Stage. The move sees the festival grow to a much larger capacity event with bigger bands joining the line up as it develops, and further stages opened to give more emerging bands a chance to play to a big audience.

The Wave One announcement is reserved for the smaller bands. Whereas most festivals lead with their headliners and add smaller acts around them, PILE UP FESTIVAL wants to be different; they want to make it a habit of announcing all the emerging bands in the first wave to give them the initial limelight, with one or two larger acts involved.

Hence Wave One sees the return of MC LARS, who will be headlining Stage 4 on the Friday, with KOOKOO KANGAROO and MEGARAN in attendance on the same stage on the same day, alongside the best emerging acts from the UK and the USA in the initial announcement of 80+ bands. PILE UP FESTIVAL can also confirm that RISE WRESTLING will be in attendance with shows throughout the weekend, showcasing the maddest UK wrestling around.

Promoter and event organiser Adam Ruane says:

For just over ten years now, I have been working away in the music industry with emerging and local bands, and that is where the idea of Pile Up Festival was born. We wanted to create a huge festival with a mix of genres and a chance for smaller bands to play with larger bands, to help develop them. Fast forward a few years and here we are, ready to tackle this event and develop the festival into the scale we know it can reach with the right support.

The first year as Pop Punk Pile Up Festival was amazing, bringing the likes of Mallory Knox and Blood Youth together with local, hard working bands on the same bill and, together, we showed that the format can work. Our new home is ten times bigger, we have more stages, more bands, more surprises lined up and, with a lot of other festivals deciding to move further out of their city centres, we think it’s time for us to step in and fill that gap and begin the next chapter of alternative festivals. We hope you will join us on this journey. We are very excited for what the future could hold for Pile Up Festival.

With a huge number of emerging bands playing each stage across all three days, PILE UP FESTIVAL is designed to give a true mix to attendees, with the chance of discovering your favourite new band alongside catching some legendary artists. 2019 is the flagship year for PILE UP FESTIVAL, with a new home and a new outlook, and is unquestionably one to add to the calendar.
