REVIEW: Dancing On Tables | Wonderland

Words by Kaitlynn-Andrea Baillie:

Dancing on Tables are back with ‘Wonderland’, their second single of the year. The five piece from Dunfermline have blessed our ears with a zestful, nostalgic, chart-worthy hit. Going from being best friends in school to gaining 2 million streams on Spotify, and playing in esteemed venues around the world. The boys have certainly broken that small-town mentality us Scots are so heavily conditioned with - whilst still sticking to their roots as you’ll hear in this track.

The song is lively and optimistic, it’s the sort of song that fills a room and tells you to dance, fitting for a live show. You can’t do anything apart from smile whilst listening to it. With all the romanticism of the 80’s, the song really pays homage to Scotland, and not even just Scotland - but the place where they grew up; their home. Anyone who has lived away from home can relate to this track. The nostalgia you feel as you walk past your childhood home or the park you learned to do cartwheels in, the nursery you adored as a child and the secondary school you didn’t like so much, the sentiment is universal.

We all have our own version of Wonderland, and there truly is no place like home.
